Local suppliers, I loved working with

Updated: Apr 9

Building in non-urban locations can pose challenges for finding good suppliers and services. For locations in the mountains west of Denver, metro companies and businesses in the smaller towns are generally used. Because of the high demand for resort housing in the ski areas, there are many local businesses near those communities. I drew from all the compass points and worked with various suppliers.

Alpine is an employee-owned company with locations throughout western Colorado. They provided our contractor's core building materials with excellent delivery and competitive prices.

Bowser’s Kitchen & Bath Cabinets https://www.bowserskitchen.com/

A small Denver-based company that primarily works with building contractors, James Bowser brought confidence, expertise, and extensive experience to our kitchen and bath design.

Galleria’s retail location is tucked away in an old Denver industrial area. Their showroom is nice but not as extensive as others. However, it is owned by a huge French multinational company and has great buying power. The real difference is in their staff, who have decades of lighting experience. I got exceptional guidance and service from a complicated order that included all our outlets, switches, and fixtures. Our contractor and electrician were impressed and grateful that Galleria handled all the lighting and electrical components.

Gregory Door and Window https://www.gregorydw.com/

Another Breckenridge-based company with a strong emphasis on higher-end window and door products. This was probably the most technical and complex part of material ordering, and our rep was spectacular in quickly understanding the project and identifying every detail. Their service and support was excellent.

Innovative Energy (Renewable Power) http://www.renewablepower.com/

In Breckenridge, Erik Westerhoff was the “easy button” in designing our solar system, getting proper county permits, working with the power company, and providing a flawless installation.

RockSolid Surfacing https://rocksolidsurfacing.com

An Eagle County-based company that installs a polyaspartic coating for floors. It is also a manufacturer and wholesaler to companies across the US. I was amazed that it was a one-day process, and the results were outstanding. Though more expensive than epoxy-painted floors, the look and durability are light years ahead.

Salida Stove and Spa https://salidastove.com/

I purchased our two fireplaces, outdoor smoker, and hot tub from this family-owned business. They have the unique experience of operating gas fireplaces at high altitudes. Whether I visited their amply supplied store or had them on-site, they were great folks to work with.

Specialty Wood Products https://swp.net

A large regional supplier of construction products, Nichiha recommended I work with the company's owner, who has a customer service-oriented staff. Next to windows and doors, the siding and decking were the largest finish components of the budget. I appreciated their patience and insights while working with a rookie like me.
